The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo – Books
Forty years ago, Harriet Vanger disappeared from a family gathering on the island owned and inhabited by the powerful Vanger clan. Her body was never found, yet her uncle is convinced it was murder – and that the killer is a member of his own tightly knit but dysfunctional family. He employs disgraced financial journalist Mikael Blomkvist and the tattooed, truculent computer hacker Lisbeth Salander to investigate. When the pair link Harriet’s disappearance to a number of grotesque murders from forty years ago, they begin to unravel a dark and appalling family history. But the Vangers are a secretive clan, and Blomkvist and Salander are about to find out just how far they are prepared to go to protect themselves.

I was truly disappointed in the book. I thought that since they were making it into a movie, it would be pretty good. But, this was not the case.
I found the first chapters interesting, but then it got very boring, and I couldn't tell who they were talking about and who was doing the talking. I still can't figure out why they called it "The girl with the dragon tatoo", when she really didn't have that much to do with the book.
I've seen the trailors for the movie, and it looks very exciting. I hope it's better than this book. I was planning on buying the next two books, but I have since changed my mind. I'm glad I didn't buy them before I read this book.
-- Disappointing
Don't go by the first few chapters of this book. I almost didn't keep reading it because of the financial/political background of Sweden in the beginning but I kept telling myself it had to get better because of the great reviews it has. Once the story started, I could not put it down. The same with the two sequels. I was sorry when I finished the third in the series, I want to keep reading about Salander & Blomkvist, I feel like they were a part of my life. -- 1st in a great series
I am reading this for a book group selection I am at 300 pages and still waiting for it to get better. If i can't sleep I pick this book up read a chapter or two then out like a light. I hope it gets better soon. -- A good book to help you sleep
What a page turner! Well constructed and written ( and congratulations to the translator too). One of those books that when you decide you must turn out the light when you get to the end of the chapter, Larsson hooks you in to start the next one and tell your partner that you haven't got there yet! Can easily see why it's made the Top Seller List. -- Page turning thriller
This was a great book. The first few pages seemed to drag a bit to me, but then it really took off. I couldn't put it down. And then to my delight, my book clube selected it for this month's book. Now I'm already ahead of the game! I've read the second in the series and am anxiously awaiting the third to arrive in the mail! -- Great Read!
